Math: Test Wednesday covering our math facts (sums of 10 and review facts), as well as material discussed recently in class and on homework. We will have math centers next week as well to review skills covered so far.
Science: We will be finishing up our unit on how earth changes quickly and slowly. The kids will be using the app Snapguide to demonstrate their learning from this unit. 

Important News and Information:
-Behavior logs were not sent home this week due to Parent Teacher Conferences. I will begin sending them home weekly again next Friday:) 
-Wednesday, Nov. 2nd is Muffins for Moms beginning at 7:00am in the church basement. You are welcome to eat breakfast with your child and join us for chapel at 8:00!
-No school on Tuesday, Nov. 8th.

We did an AWESOME project with Ms. Buerges' 5th grade class on Friday. The 5th graders taught the 2nd graders how to make scribble bots. A simple robot machine made with a battery, a small motor, two wires, markers, a plastic cup, and tape. They had a blast!

Important News and Information:
-Today marked the end of 1st quarter. Grade cards will be given at parent teacher conferences next Thursday evening and Friday morning. 2nd quarter begins 10/24. I will conference with each student next week, and together, we will create a new AR goal for 2nd quarter.
-We will not have school next Friday 10/28 for parent teacher conferences. Looking forward to meeting with all of you!
-Because there's no school on Friday, spelling and memory tests will take place on Thursday.

Science: How Can Earth Change Slowly?  We will also have a test over various vocabulary from what we've been learning the past two weeks: core, mantle, crust, globe, fresh water, and salt water. A study guide will go home on Monday and we will have the test on Wednesday.

Important News and Information:
-Next Friday marks the end of first quarter. Keep encouraging your kids to read so we can all reach our AR goals!
-Next Friday is also our field trip to the Art Museum and our class Harvest Party.
     -For our field trip, permission slips must be signed and returned to school. Please do so by Mon. 10/17. Have your child wear their red Zion t-shirt and regular uniform bottoms, and also bring a peanut free lunch that we will eat in our classroom when we return.
 
-Wed. Oct. 12th kicked off TJ's Pizza sales. Sale sheets are due at school by Thursday, Oct. 27th. Delivery will be on Thursday, Nov. 17th.
-We are still collecting super heroes for the Albritton Family!

These are words that second graders should be able to read and spell after first quarter. We  will test their spelling of these words on Tuesday.  We took a pre-pre-test on those words today. These are in your child's Friday folder if you would like to see what they need to practice.

Important News and Information:
-Our first field trip of the year is coming up on Friday, Oct. 21. We will be going to the St. Louis Art Museum. A permission slip was sent home in Friday folders. In order for the kids to be able to go on the field trip, this permission slip must be signed and returned by Monday, Oct. 17th. 
-Parent Teacher conference scheduled times were sent home in Friday folders. Please sign and return these to school as soon as possible.
-Also, in Friday folders is information about a service project we will be doing with our partner class, Mrs. Horn's PDO class. We will be collecting superheroes to donate to Friends of Kids with Cancer in memory of Drew Albritton. We will also make cards together later on this month to send along with the superheroes.
-We do not have school next Wednesday through Friday as the teachers will be in Grand Rapids for a conference.


We discovered that about 3/4 of the Earth is made up of water, and that most of that water is salt water.
