Important News and Information:
-On Monday, we are going on our field trip to the Botanical Gardens. Remember to send your child with a packed, peanut free lunch, and water to drink. They can bring a reusable water bottle, or a plastic one that can be recycled there. Whatever you prefer. Also, remember to send your child to school wearing their red Zion t-shirts, jeans or uniform bottoms, and comfy walking shoes.
-The musical for grades 1-3 is this Friday, 5/5! Our dress rehearsal is at 2pm in the church sanctuary, and our performance is at 6pm. Please have your child meet in the church basement at 5:45pm. The kids need to wear khaki bottoms. They will be given a purple t-shirt at the performance to wear over their shirts.
-The last day to take AR tests is on Tuesday, May 23rd. Please encourage your child to keep reading!

In honor of Earth Day, we reviewed the importance of the three R's and brainstormed ways that we can Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

We also learned about the Lifecycle of an aluminum can. Did you know that the time it takes for a can to be recycled and put back on the shelf is only 60 days?!

In math, we learned about perimeter. To practice this skill, the kids worked together to figure out the perimeter of our playground.

Silent Reading Time

We learned about soil today. The kids were able to observe three different types of soil.

We played a game in phonics to practice spelling plural nouns.

In art, we learned about Vincent Van Gogh and painted sunflowers inspired by his artwork.

We learned about similes! Here are some videos the kids created to demonstrate their understanding using the Chatterbox app!
