Week 27

This week we delved deeper into the topic of persuasion. We watched several different types of commercials, and learned different approaches advertisers use to sell their products. The kids then created posters, writings, and even commercials to persuade others to buy their products at Market Day on Friday. Market Day was a blast! I had a lot of fun watching the kids conduct their businesses!

Week 26

Our four day week flew by! We stayed busy learning about persuasion writing, and the kids got to write a little of their own. They had to decide if ant should be squished or not, and wrote a short persuasive paragraph. Look for their writing done during center time this week for some funny persuasive paragraphs...apparently many of them think that kids should be allowed to ground their parents:)  This week we also learned about the Chinese New Year (the 15 day celebration began on Thursday). To celebrate we cleaned our desks getting rid of the old to make way for the new, ate oranges for good luck, and made dragons for strength. We also watched some cool videos of the dragon and lion dances; both are traditionally used in New Years Parades.

To squish, or not to squish, that is the question!

If you notice they are struggling with a certain concept, let me know, and I can send home extra practice, or change up math centers to meet their needs! Thanks for your help!
