This week we learned about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln through various short readings.  We practiced finding the evidence in a text to answer comprehension questions. We also learned about different coins, and which president is on which coin. The kids also wrote some really great papers about what they would do if they were president. Spoiler Alert: Some kids said they would eat three desserts for every meal, get rid of bedtimes for kids across the country, and eat pizza every day. I think they could win some votes:)

Important News and Information:
-We will have a four day weekend next weekend. No School Friday 2/13 and Monday 2/15
-We will have our Valentine's Day Party next Thursday 2/12. We will be decorating our valentine's bags in class, so there is nothing to prepare or do at home for that. If your child would like to bring Valentines to share with the class, they are welcome to bring them on Thursday to be passed out during our party. If you bring Valentines, make sure that you bring one for each student in our class. A class list was sent home in today's Friday folder. Our school does not allow candy to be given to other students, although there's no rule about giving some to teachers:)
-Reminder that the Six Flags Read to Succeed Form is due by Feb. 26th.
-Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. We will have a very special chapel service where we will receive the imposition of ashes. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Please consider attending Lenten services at Zion every Wednesday until Easter. Services are at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. There's a free meal in between services too:)
