Looking Ahead to Next Week
Memory: The Sixth Commandment--You shall not commit adultery.
Spelling: alk/ea: talk, stalk, talking, chalk, walked, steam, dream, scream, treat, teamwork
Phonics: ain, ail, an word endings
Grammar: Compound Words. Instead of having a typical grammar assessment, we will be having a fun activity next Friday called Compound Word Day. Look for the blue informational sheet that will come home on Monday. Let me know if you have any questions!
Reading/Social Studies: In honor of Black History Month, we will be learning about important African American historical figures including Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver, Rosa Parks, and Ruby Bridges. The kids will be making a stop motion video project over their favorite character on Friday.
Math: We are officially finished with 100 addition facts! However, we will now be moving onto subtractions facts. With each test, the total amount of facts increases by 10. We will start with 60 subtraction facts in 4 1/2 minutes. Eventually, we will work towards 100 facts in 6 minutes. At this point in the school year, I am going to be strict on the time limit. Any facts not finished within the time limit, will be counted as incorrect. We do practice the facts everyday! I am not planning on having a test next week, I will let you know if that changes.
Science: We will have our ch. 10 Lesson 3 quiz on Tuesday. We will then begin our unit on Forces and Motion. This test will not take place until the following week.
